Damage Control v1 #1.

Damage Control was a construction company which specializes in repairing the property damage caused by conflicts between superheroes and super-villains. (Marvel Comics Presents v1 #19) It was founded by Anne Marie Hoag and was originally owned by Tony Stark and Wilson Fisk, each owning half the stock of the company, though Stark felt uneasy cooperating with Fisk, a notorious criminal. (Damage Control v2 #1) In addition, the company additionally operates as the archival unit for government-contested metahuman machinery and technology that belongs to missing, incapacitated, or deceased individuals where either a clear chain of custody does not exist or the items in question pose an existential threat to the United States. (House of X v1 #1)

In his battle against Declun and Damage Control, which includes destroying many D.C. assets such as company equipment to robbing overseas banks with D.C. Holdings to forcing major stockholders to liquidate their stock. Wolverine later engages in a fight with a team of D.C. Security personnel who are equipped with Mandroid Armor, S.H.I.E.L.D. weaponry, Stark Enterprises technology and other items salvaged from superhuman fights until the super-hero Sentry shows up and captures Wolverine, who is then delivered to SHIELD, which is under Maria Hill's leadership. But Wolverine later escapes. After making his way back to Damage Control offices, he confronts Declun, at which point the corrupt businessman takes a dose of Mutant Growth Hormone in response to Wolverine's threats; temporally giving him super-human powers. During the fight Wolverine appears to kill Declun by stabbing him through his eye sockets. However, Declun survives the fight. (Wolverine v3 #47)

Following the Spider-Island Incident, Damage Control was seen working with the superheroes to clean up the destruction and chaos caused by the madness of a giant spider monster in the middle of Manhattan. Along with passing out pants to formerly spider-shaped New Yorkers, Damage set to work carting away parts of the Spider Queen's giant arachnid body. At least one Damage Control team had been infiltrated and controlled by the Jackal, a self-admitted mad scientist who wanted DNA from the spider monster. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #673)

During Civil War II, Monstro finds Trull the Unhuman vandalizing Damage Control equipment and busts him. Upon Monstro empathizing him, Trull the Unhuman was convinced to give up on his goals. Trull the Unhuman joined up with Damage Control and became their spokesperson. (Civil War II: Choosing Sides v1 #1)

After the seeming deaths of Tony Stark and Reed Richards, their respective schematics and materials fell into the custody of Damage Control with their rights being contested. Sometime after the establishment of the settlement of Krakoa, Mystique, Sabretooth, and Toad broke into one of Damage Control's buildings in search of information. Due to this and Sabretooth's attacks on various guards, the Fantastic Four were alerted and confronted the trio, with the Invisible Woman capturing Sabretooth. Through an infographic, it was revealed that various inventions created by both Tony Stark and Reed Richards were now in Damage Control's possession due to events that incapacitated the two of them. Overview

The corporate entity traditionally operated in the role of quarantine and repair/rebuilding. However, it also operated as an archival unit for government contested metahuman machinery and technology that belonged to either missing, incapacitated or deceased individuals. In this role, they acted in situations where there was no clear chain of custody or where the items posed an existential threat to the United States. (House of X v1 #1)

They maintained a warehouse within each borough of New York City. (Marvel Team-Up v4 #4) A place used for storage was the Damage Control Contested Storage facility. (House of X v1 #1)

Notes

  • Damage Control was created by Dwayne McDuffie and Ernie Colón where it made its first appearance in Marvel Age Annual v1 #4 (June, 1988).

Alternate Versions

  • In Ultimate Spider-Man v1 #86 (2006), an alternate version of Damage Control appeared in the Ultimate Marvel reality designated as Earth-1610 in the Multiverse.

In other media

Television

  • In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Damage Control appeared in the setting of the live-action television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In August 2025, following a disturbance at the Southern California Law Awards Gala, Damage Control agents arrived in Los Angeles and surrounded the area. Upon seeing She-Hulk apprehend an Intelligencia member, they aimed their Stark Sonic Cannons at her to arrest her.

Films

  • In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Department of Damage Control (D.O.D.C.) made multiple appearances in the shared continuity setting:
    • In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Damage Control appeared in the setting of the live-action film. In 2016, due to the confrontation between the Criminal Avengers and Spider-Man, the Queens Community Bank and Delmar's Deli-Grocery were seriously damaged. Damage Control was assigned to clean up the aftermath of the incident. Anne Marie Hoag and Foster arrived at the scene to supervise the cleanup.
    • In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Damage Control appeared in the setting of the live-action film. In 2024, following the revelation that Peter Parker was Spider-Man, Damage Control units, led by P. Cleary, arrived at the Parker Residence. They, along with the New York City Police Department, arrested Parker and brought him to the police station. As Parker was handcuffed to an interrogation table, he told Cleary that they could ask Nick Fury for evidence that he did not kill Quentin Beck, but Cleary told him that Fury had been in space for the past year. He then proceeded to tell Parker that despite his pleas of being innocent, the drones that killed Beck were under Parker's name. Other Damage Control agents then brought May Parker, Michelle Jones, and Ned Leeds into the station for questioning. Cleary interrogated all of them, stating that they all would need a lawyer
