Biography
Origin
Christopher Summers
Later on, Christopher Summers flew his family back from a vacation in his plane when it came under attack and was set ablaze by a scout ship from an alien ship belonging to the Shi'ar Empire. Christopher's wife Katherine pushed their sons, Scott and Alex out with the only parachute in an effort to save them. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #156)
Starjammers
Months later, Corsair crash-landed on Earth near the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters while being chased by Sidri hunters. Scott found him, discovering that Corsair carried a picture of the family. Christopher explained that he and Katherine doubted that Scott and Alex had survived the fall. After her death, he thought returning to Earth would be too painful. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #156)
Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire
Return
When the Guardians of the Galaxy and the past X-Men tried to follow the Shi'ar, who had abducted the Jean Grey of the past to put her on trial for the crimes of the Phoenix, they were discovered and attacked. During the battle, they ran across the Starjammers, who saved them from the Shi'ar, and revealed to have a living Corsair back as their leader. (All-New X-Men v1 #23)
The time-displaced Cyclops finds out for the first time that his father was alive. Corsair unexpectedly returned to join his time-displaced son, Scott, aboard the Starjammer. He initiated a 'cosmic road trip', taking Scott to various planets to bond, operate the ship’s controls together, and introduce him to life as a space pirate. At journey’s end, Corsair revealed he needed regular doses of a rare nanite-based serum to stay alive—his supply damaged in a recent skirmish. (Cyclops v3 #1) Corsair guided Scott through an alien bazaar on Yrzt while subtly teaching him survival skills—how to land the Starjammer, pick up local customs, and adapt socially. He reconnected with old ally Baroque to locate more of his life-sustaining serum. Their conversation was interrupted by armed bounty hunters, forcing Corsair to fight and, despite being wounded, he protected Scott until Scott unleashed optic blasts to drive the attackers off. Corsair later discovered the serum he acquired had been compromised during the scuffle. (Cyclops v3 #2) Corsair and Scott crash-landed on a hostile world after their ship was shot down by the tracking device bounty hunters had attached. Corsair taught Scott survival tactics, assigned him tasks like scavenging ship fragments, and began training him in fencing and combat. Corsair then recounted his past—his wife’s death, near enslavement, his role in Scott and Alex’s presumed fate, and his later resurrection at Hepzibah’s insistence. He conveyed that he had only 27 days left on his nanite-serum before it expired. (Cyclops v3 #3) Stranded on a beach after fleeing hostile fauna, Corsair carried an injured Scott in his arms and set up camp. He sparred with Scott using a sword, emphasizing discipline, bravery, and encouraging teamwork despite their dire situation. His tone remained firm but caring, supporting Scott’s development while maintaining paternal control. (Cyclops v3 #4) Corsair negotiated with a galactic slaver named Travis, who kept a local woman as bonded servant. Faced with a moral dilemma, Corsair chose to honor Scott’s personal promise to Travis, enabling their escape. Though troubled, he defended his choice as honorable. Meanwhile, he continued to press Scott to help track down more of the life-saving serum, knowing his own time was limited. (Cyclops v3 #5)
Following the death of Thanos, Corsair and the other Starjammers attended at his funeral where Eros revealed to the attendants that Thanos had transferred his mind into another body. However, the Black Order crashed in and stole Thanos' body, while opening a rift in space sucking in everyone. (Guardians of the Galaxy v5 #1)
