Biography
Origin
Connor Hawke
He sought to learn archery from Hattori-sensei at the monastery. (Green Arrow v2 #0)
About six months after Ollie had re-entered the monastery, two NSA-employed mercenaries came looking to kill him. With the help of Connor, they defeated the assassins, but Ollie knew it wasn't safe to stay at the monastery. When leaving the Ashram, Connor joined him, claiming to want to learn to be a better archer from the best. (Green Arrow v2 #0)
Connor served as Oliver's sidekick, also meeting with Eddie Fyers, the former federal agent that acted as a form of counsel for Oliver. It was during this time that Oliver learned about his connection to Connor from the ghost of Hal Jordan: Connor was Oliver's son, conceived during Oliver's college years. (Green Arrow v2 #96)
Eddie Fyers had already deduced this, but Oliver did not take the revelation well. He subsequently agreed to go undercover in an eco-terrorist group called the Eden Corps for the government. The mission turned out to be fatal for Oliver, as his arm was connected to a bomb in a plane that was headed for Metropolis. Rather than endanger Metropolis, and refusing to allow his arm to be amputated, he sacrificed himself to let the bomb explode away from the city. With his father dead, Connor decided to take up the mantle of Green Arrow and continue his hero's work. Following Oliver's death, Connor met Black Canary, Oliver's former and longtime romantic interest, and informed her of Oliver's passing. She immediately deduced Connor was Oliver's son, and gifted him one of Oliver's old bows, which Connor would use from then on. (Green Arrow v2 #101)

Connor also applied for membership to the JLA, taking his father's place. On what would be his second interview, he single-handedly saved the League from the hands of the Key. Connor defeated the Key's robots using his father's old trick arrows since his own were destroyed. In the end, he knocked out the Key using the famous boxing glove arrow, and was accepted as a member of the League. (JLA v1 #9) Later on, the JLA Revenge Squad wrecked havoc on Star City where it was discovered that they were hard-light duplicates of the Justice League. Green Arrow and the JLA responded and drove them off, but the Revenge Squad was deactivated and sent back to the Injustice Gang headquarters. The Gang was merely taking the new JLA’s measure before confronting them. Aztek was in the JLA Monitor Womb when he detected a massive amount of energy heading toward Earth, and Martian Manhunter chose to investigate it. He was devastated by the Genesis Wave and realized it was headed toward Earth. (JLA v1 #10)
Kyle Rayner took Green Arrow to Sunny Brooke Mall on Christmas eve to do some last minute shopping. The power went out in the mall when a man who’s girlfriend left him went nuts and hacked into the mall’s computer system. Kyle couldn’t reason with him, and he took a nun hostage. Arrow shared Buddhist dogma with the man, telling him life was suffering and that he had to accept the present, eventually convincing him to hand over his weapon. Arrow suggested Kyle forget about presents and just tell his teammates how much he appreciated their friendship, but Kyle was having none of it. (DCU Holiday Bash v1 #2)
Arrow put Conner to work at his Star City youth center. Conner told Arrow he connected with youths because he was a wanna-be dad, and told him it was time for him to settle down with Black Canary. Arrow and Conner went on patrol, busting a number of crimes and warning the criminals of Star City that the Green Arrows kept the streets safe. (Green Arrow v3 #11)
Mia flirted with Conner, and he had no idea how to react. Arrow asked Conner about his experience with women, but the conversation made Conner uncomfortable. Conner and Arrow went on patrol, taking out some muggers. Conner pursued one thug, only to find him dead at the hands of Onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia proceeded to shoot Conner in the head. Conner rushed Conner to the emergency room, and saved his life with a blood transfusion. Onomatopoeia went to the hospital to finish the job, but was blocked by Arrow. (Green Arrow v3 #14)
While Conner was recovering from his injuries, Arsenal gave him a Green Arrow scrapbook to look through so he could learn about his heritage. Conner was healed up and went on patrol with his father. (Green Arrow v3 #21)
Arsenal visited Arrow, and he asked him to get Connor Hawke out of the house for a while. Connor kept trying to get Arrow to open up about Joanna Pierce's death, and Arrow just needed time to be angry. Connor and Arsenal went for a boy's night out, with Connor choosing to go to a used bookstore. Arsenal wasn't enjoying himself and took him to an exotic dance club where he was on a first-name basis with the dancers. Connor asked Arsenal why people assumed he didn't like women just because he didn't chase after them like Green Arrow did. Connor said he was just waiting for real love. Afterwards they foiled a convenience store holdup, and noted the difference in their methods. Connor tried to get one of the robbers to hand over his gun, but Arsenal had no patience and knocked the criminal out. Their attitude about fun and women and crimefighting were different, but they both realized they had a lot in common under the surface because they were both their father's sons. (Green Arrow v3 #32)
When Arsenal was gunned down by a Brother Blood cultist, Green Arrow and his father raced to Arsenal's hospital bed. He accompanied Arsenal's team the Outsiders on a mission to stop Brother Blood from activating cultist sleeper agents to kidnap one million infants. Green Arrow and the Outsiders succeeded in foiling Blood's scheme and brought him into police custody. (Outsiders v3 #6)
Connor would take Dinah's adoptive daughter Sin to a safe location at Oliver's request. After the wedding of Oliver and Black Canary, Connor resumes the mantle of Green Arrow after it is believed that his father has once more been killed. Along with Dinah and Batman, Connor is one of the few people who believes that Oliver is still alive. His suspicions are confirmed when it is revealed that Oliver is being held captive by the Amazons, and Connor and Dinah decide to stage a rescue attempt. (Green Arrow and Black Canary v1 #2)
Taking on the mantle of Green Arrow again, Connor travelled to Coast City to face Ollie after his transformation into a Black Lantern caused by Nekron. During their battle, Ollie mocked Connor, telling him that he always hated him because he reminded him of how old he was getting. Connor was hesitant to fight his father, but eventually stopped him by spraying him with liquid nitrogen, freezing him solid. After Ollie's defeat, Connor, Mia, and Dinah joined in the fight against the other Black Lanterns. (Green Arrow and Black Canary v1 #30)
Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events. Connor Hawke
At an unknown point in time, Connor suddenly had his life changed after a mysterious 'blue light' left him injured, disoriented, and alone. He was rescued by the League of Shadows and accepted the offer to join their ranks, intending to stop their plan to assist the League of Lazarus with awakening a 'demon'. (Robin v3 #8)
While trying to meditate in solitude, Connor came across a wandering Robin, who had abandoned a rowdy party of fellow competitors. Choosing to remain away from the crowd, the two instead sat together and bonded over their similar backgrounds and laughed at the eccentricities of their fathers. Before long, they were interrupted by Connor's League of Shadows handlers. (Robin v3 #3) As it happened, the lead operative had previously been banished by Robin's mother; looking for revenge, the master forced Connor to fight his new acquaintance, despite tournament rules forbidding clashes after nightfall. Connor swiftly defeated Robin and threw him off the cliffs of the island. (Robin v3 #4) Though he felt remorse, Connor nonetheless feigned ignorance of Robin's whereabouts until he returned safely some time later, having survived the fall. (Robin v3 #5)
Later, one busy evening in Metropolis, Connor's mother and great-aunt sent him out to pick up kimchi for dinner. As he made his way home across the city on his suit, he bumped into The New Super-Man, who was fighting a giant robotic dragon. During the fight Connor used his arrows to prevent bystanders being hurt by Kong's reckless actions, but in the process his jar of kimchi is smashed. Connor went back to his home before the crowd that thanked Kong can know what he did. When he arrived at home, he told his aunt and mom that he got sidetracked, but they respond by saying that they saw it on the news and began praising Kong. Kong later arrived to their home with a jar of pao cai from China as a replacement for the kimchi that Connor lost; realizing that Super-Man had nowhere to go, Connor invited him to stay for dinner. Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Connor Hawke was a lean, athletic man with light brown skin, short blond hair, and sharp green eyes that conveyed calm intensity. As Green Arrow, Connor wore a sleek green uniform with minimal armor, often favoring agility over protection. His costume included a hooded tunic and bracers, and his equipment mirrored Oliver’s classic design—a collapsible longbow and a quiver filled with a variety of specialized arrows. (Green Arrow v2 #0) He later came to adopt a costume similar to his father and began to operate as the Green Arrow. (Green Arrow v2 #91)
Connor Hawke exhibited a reserved and respectful personality, contrasting sharply with his father, Oliver Queen. He had a calm demeanor where he was shown to be quiet, meditative, and enjoying silence as well as the 'simple, honest things' in life. As such, Connor was polite and humble, deferring to his father and holding him in admiration, despite the complications of their relationship. (Green Arrow v2 #0)
He had a deep love of archery and wanted to learn it. (Green Arrow v2 #0)
Connor displayed a strong sense of non-lethal ethics and an aversion to violence, despite his background in martial arts. Competing in the League of Lazarus tournament, he expressed clear hesitance and concern about killing his opponents, a sentiment he maintained even when he was informed that his defeated foes would be revived. (Robin v3 #8)
Hawke demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and moral conviction after his father's death. As he took up the mantle of Green Arrow, he did so with the conviction that it was his obligation to continue the legacy. He approached the role with a seriousness that contrasted with the more cavalier attitude Oliver Queen often exhibited. When confronted by Eddie Fyers, Oliver's old partner, Connor insisted on doing the right thing, even when it proved difficult or dangerous. (Green Arrow v2 #101)
Prior to meeting Oliver Queen, he had never seen the Green Arrow but had read of his exploits. It was said that he looked up to Oliver when he had returned to the monastery. Connor Hawke displayed a deep admiration and sense of loyalty toward his father, Oliver Queen. Despite having grown up apart and only recently meeting Oliver at the ashram, Connor had a scrapbook detailing his father's exploits as Green Arrow. Even when Oliver had grown weary and cynical of his superhero life, Connor saw the Green Arrow mantle as a legacy to be continued. His respect was so great that when Oliver planned to leave the monastery, Connor decided to follow him, wanting to become his sidekick. He also kept his true relationship to Oliver a secret, waiting for the right moment to tell him. (Green Arrow v2 #0)
Powers and abilities
Connor Hawke was an ordinary human and thus had no superhuman powers or enhancements. As such, he had all the basic traits of a human being but elevated them through rigorous training and spiritual discipline. His physical abilities rivaled those of peak-conditioned athletes, and his reflexes and accuracy with a bow bordered on superhuman precision through sheer mastery. Connor was also a world-class martial artist, proficient in several combat forms including aikido, judo, and kempo, making him capable of defeating superpowered opponents through skill and strategy alone. His spiritual background granted him exceptional emotional control and awareness, allowing him to maintain focus under stress and resist fear or manipulation. Though lacking metahuman gifts, Connor’s discipline, physical conditioning, and serene composure made him one of the most formidable non-powered heroes in the DC Universe. (Green Arrow v2 #112)
Connor came to train in martial arts and was a skilled close combat fighter. (Green Arrow v2 #0)
At one point, it was shown that he came under the tutelage of Richard Dragon. (Richard Dragon #7)
Growing up at the monastery, he showed a particular skill towards archery with an impressive aim with his teachers believing he had great potential. However, he trained in Kyudo's which was unlike western archery as it involved physical technique of posture, breathing, drawing and releasing. The other aspect of it was the spiritual which was at the heart of Zen archery where the goal was to expand the consciousness outside of one's self. Thus, he sought to become the bow, the arrow, the target and everything where he initially struggled to master this element. His archery talent thus allowed him to easily hit a target but if it was without spirit then the act was for nothing. (Green Arrow v2 #0)
As a result of Dr. Sivana's genetic reassignment experiment, Connor came to be imparted with a regenerative healing factor possibly derived from Plastic Man. This led to him being incredibly hard to hurt, heal at an accelerated rate and his pain threshold had dramatically increased. (Green Arrow and Black Canary v1 #14)
