The Concordance Extraction Corporation (CEC) was a company established by humanity by the time it expanded into space. In time, it came to be the largest solar mining and extraction company within the Earth colonies whilst also being the fifty largest company in terms of market capital. It established itself by being the first to develop deep space mining and asteroid catching whilst also being the first to implement shockpoint drives for commercial use. In the wake of a catastrophic global energy crisis that pushed humanity to the brink of extinction, the Concordance Extraction Corporation was formed in the mid-25th century as a desperate solution to Earth's depleted natural resources. Born from a series of massive corporate mergers and backed by the Earth Government, the CEC was granted an unprecedented mandate to pioneer 'Planet Cracking' that was the process of literally dismantling celestial bodies to harvest their mineral cores. This era of formation was defined by the commissioning of the USG Ishimura, the first and most famous Planet Cracker class starship, which served as the physical manifestation of the company's dominance. As the CEC secured exclusive rights to deep-space mining sectors, it transitioned from a mere industrial firm into the backbone of human civilization, effectively becoming the wealthiest and most powerful entity in the galaxy. While its public image was built on the noble goal of Powering Mankind’s Future, the corporation’s early years were marked by a cold, utilitarian culture that prioritized resource quotas over crew safety and established a rigid hierarchy that would eventually allow the clandestine influence of the Church of Unitology to seep into its highest ranks.

As the Concordance Extraction Corporation matured, it evolved into a bureaucratic titan that functioned as a de facto sovereign state, wielding more practical power than the Earth Government itself. This expansion was fueled by the Resource Wars recovery, during which the CEC established a total monopoly on the production of Shockpoint Drives, the essential technology required for faster-than-light travel across the Sector Hubs. To maintain its staggering profit margins, the corporation implemented a rigorous, high-stakes operational model where the lives of thousands of 'Believers' and industrial workers were treated as expendable variables in a galaxy-wide ledger. The company’s influence extended into the very fabric of deep-space society, founding numerous mining colonies and outposts that operated under CEC Corporate Law rather than federal jurisdiction. During this period of unchecked growth, the corporate board began a subtle but dangerous flirtation with the Church of Unitology, allowing high-ranking members of the cult to infiltrate its executive ranks. This internal shift ensured that while the public saw a tireless provider of the energy needed to keep Earth alive, the CEC had actually become a massive, hollow shell designed to facilitate the clandestine search for Markers under the guise of deep-space prospecting.

Overview

In appearance, CEC was a powerful mining conglomerate within the Earth government and among the top five businesses among its colonies. Such was its position that it was considered an industrial powerhouse that had considerable influential political force. It used its finances on election spending in order to maintain and improve its market position.

It was noted to had developed deep space mining and shockpoint drives for commercial use whilst being the biggest supplier of precious metals.

The corporation was involved in the extensive process known as Planet Cracking that could span a three-five year period. This saw the dismantling of planets or moons on a macro-scale whereby they were fractured in order to access the rich minerals deep within them. The first year generally involved prospecting and setting up the colony whilst the next year and a half involved tectonic excavation along with other planet-side activities. It was then that a Planet Cracker arrived between 2.5 and 3 years depending on the progress of the excavation. Once in orbit, preparations were made for tectonic chunk extraction that took approximately a week as removal of the excavated part of the planet that was stabilised in a geosynchronous orbit took 24 hours. This involved billions of tons of debris being broken off from the underside of the chunk which created an instant asteroid ring around the planet. The process was then repeated a number of time until the entire world was broken up and processed.

CEC was noted to own over 400 deep space vehicles which included five Planet Cracker class ships. The Planet Crackers themselves were noted to have excellent Asteroid Defense Systems (ADS) that protected both the ship and its crew from harm.
