Biography

The Cloverfield Monster was a giant four-legged Kaiju whose origins were not entirely known.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Clover was a colossal, quadrupedal extraterrestrial deep-sea entity that possessed a unique biological physical structure with multiple specialized limbs. The Cloverfield Monster a large quadruped with a long tri-forked finned tail that stood 240-300 foot high. Clover possessed a soft, pinkish-grey skin tone covering the entirety of a heavily muscled, highly asymmetrical body. The head featured a broad, flattened cranium with two small, dark eyes positioned on the sides, and a massive, wide mouth filled with rows of sharp, translucent teeth. Flanking the sides of the head were two distinct, inflatable red respiratory sacs that expanded whenever Clover was agitated or experiencing deep stress. The primary upper limbs were exceptionally long and thick, terminating in wide, multi-jointed hands that supported Clover's massive weight, while the lower limbs were relatively short and stout. A highly unique physical feature was a pair of smaller, auxiliary feeding appendages mounted directly onto the lower chest area. A long, thin tail terminating in a three-pronged fin extended from the lower back. Clover stood approximately 240 to 300 feet tall and wore no garments or armor, remaining entirely in a natural biological state. The U.S. Department of Defense came to designate the creature as the Large-Scale Aggressor (LSA).

Powers and abilities

Clover was born a member of an ancient, deep-sea extraterrestrial race where Clover was a member of a massive newborn organism species that had remained dormant for centuries beneath the ocean floor. On a basic feats level, Clover's gargantuan scale granted Clover immense physical strength, speed, and endurance far surpassing any baseline terrestrial wildlife, allowing Clover to effortlessly smash through concrete skyscrapers and overturn heavy military vehicles with single strikes. Clover possessed a unique, highly durable cellular structure that provided high-tier invulnerability to standard human weaponry, enabling Clover to survive direct hits from heavy artillery, tank shells, and advanced military carpet-bombing runs without sustaining internal organ failure. Additionally, Clover's massive hide acted as a mobile ecosystem, harboring thousands of dog-sized, multi-legged parasitic organisms known as Human Scale Parasites that dropped off during movement to independently track and kill localized human targets.

The skin of the beast was capable of withstanding missiles, artillery shells, and bombs with minimal injury.

Its body was covered with parasites that were shed as part of a post-birth ritual.

Notes

  • The Cloverfield Monster was created by J. J. Abrams and designed by artist Neville Page where it featured in the Cloverfield universe.
  • In an article, Abrams noted on the creatures creation that occurred after he and his son visited Japan, " "We saw all these Godzilla toys, and I thought, we need our own [American] monster, and not like King Kong, King Kong's adorable. But I wanted something that was just insane and intense."
  • As noted in an article, the name 'Clover' was a nickname given by the production stuff.
