History
Clan Askani were a religious order that was formed in the 37th to late 39th century in the reality designated as Earth-4935 in the Multiverse. Its origins were tied to a time displaced Rachel Summers who was sent 2,000 years into the future where she came upon a world that was ruled by Apocalypse. In this future, Mutants were the dominant race where mankind were mistreated as underlings with survival of the fittest being the defining rule. Getting accustomed to this era, Summers came to learn that Apocalypse was set to be bound to a new host body as part of the Festival of Resurrection. To end his threat, she planned to assassinate him in this weakened state in order to end his tyranny. During her journey, she came to encounter the young Blaquesmith before making her way to the city and infiltrated the hidden chamber only to find the sarcophagus empty. It was then she learnt that the true location of the resurrection was a closely guarded secret with Summers being ambushed by High Councillors Diamanda Nero with Rachel only barely able to escape with her life. She then determined that she could not end Apocalypse's run and that if she was to bring about true change to the world then she needed help. (X-Men: Phoenix v1 #1) Thus, she set about forming a sisterhood one of whom included a time displaced Tanya Trask who took the name Madame Sanctity and became close friends with Rachel Summers who went by the name of Mother Askani. This was until a disagreement erupted between the pair with Madame Sanctity travelling into the past in an effort to prevent her father Bolivar Trask from creating the Sentinels as part of an effort to change history. However, Summers followed her through time and convinced her that the danger to timestream was too great with all memory of the encounter being wiped from Bolivar Trask's mind. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #-1)
Overview
One of the names that they were known by was the House of the Askani. The name Clan Askani in the language of the far future meant, "family of outsiders". (Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix v1 #1)
The purpose of this sisterhood was to prepare for the coming of the mythological being called the Askani'son. (Uncanny X-Men v1 #-1)
Askani priests raised children to be warriors who were taught to put aside their ego, surrender to selflessness and relinquish pain along with pleasure. They were taught to be nothing compared to their sacred mission that was their duty and to the needs of the greater good. (Wolverine and the X-Men v2 #2)
The clan was known to teach its worshippers to hope for a better world where they accepted anyone into their ranks including Mutants, humans and even synthetics. Many humans in the far future were known to draw strength from the tenets of the Askani. (Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix v1 #1)
They were known to had resided in the secret Askani Cloisters. (Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix v1 #1)
