Bruce (Bucky O'Hare)

Bruce is a male character who features in Bucky O'Hare and the Toad Wars.

Biography

Bruce was a Betelgeusian Berserker Baboon and the brother of Bruiser. He served as the engineer aboard the Righteous Indignation, until a malfunction with the hypderive mechanism caused him to be sucked through a dimensional wormhole which catapulted him to the opposite side of the Aniverse, leaving behind only his empty clothes. He landed on a planet inhabited by semi-intelligent monkeys who had not yet evolved to a level technologically equivalent to the rest of the Aniverse. There, he began building his own teleportation device as a means of trying to get home.

At the same time, the Toad Empire was building its own, which, when activated, caused Bruce's own half-finished device to turn on, partially teleporting Bruce to the toads' location as a "ghost." In this partially corporeal form he was briefly reunited with Bruiser and helped him and Captain Bucky O'Hare destroy the toads' teleporter. As a result however, the link with his own device was severed, and the phantom baboon disappeared, although he promised to return in time. He was last glimpsed still living with the monkeys, working on his machine.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Bruce was a large, bipedal anthropomorphic mammalian creature that possessed the structural biological physical traits of a massive baboon integrated with basic military technician gear. Bruce possessed a thick coat of dark fur that covered the majority of his heavily muscled torso and elongated upper limbs, with the explicit exception of his face, hands, and feet, which exhibited a bare, textured hide. The facial anatomy featured a prominent, elongated muzzle, deep-set eyes beneath a heavy brow ridge, and localized fur patterns characteristic of his planet's native genus. For his uniform, Bruce wore a simple, durable technician's jumpsuit appropriate for an engine room environment. This uniform consisted of a sleeveless fabric vest covering his chest, a reinforced tool belt fastened securely around his waist to store maintenance equipment, and matching fabric bands wrapped around his lower limbs.

Powers and abilities

Bruce was born a member of the primate race known as the Betelgeusian Berserker Baboon species. On a basic feats level, this unique planetary physiology granted Bruce massive physical strength, raw muscle density, and structural durability that significantly surpassed the baseline capabilities of ordinary mammals. Bruce possessed an advanced tier of cognitive and technical intelligence, making him a master starship mechanic who could operate, configure, and repair complex interstellar propulsion systems, including the high-powered photon accelerators used by the United Animals Federation. Additionally, while his species was capable of entering intense physical combat states, Bruce utilized highly refined manual dexterity to manipulate microscopic mechanical circuits, calibrate heavy starship engines, and communicate complex engineering problems to Bucky O'Hare and the bridge crew during active space battles.
