Biography
Belldandy (ベルダンディー, Berudandī; transliterated: Verðandi (Old Norse), meaning "Norn of the Present")
She arrived on Earth through a mirror after a lonely college student accidentally contacted the Goddess Relief Agency. Upon granting his wish for her to remain by his side forever, she found herself legally bound to him, resulting in their immediate eviction from his all-male dormitory. She spent much of this early period seeking shelter, eventually leading the pair to an old Buddhist temple where she demonstrated her divine authority by effortlessly dispelling a swarm of malevolent spirits that plagued the grounds. As they settled into this new residence, she navigated the complexities of human life, enrolling as a student and joining the Motorcycle Club, where she used her innate ability to "talk" to machines to perfect the performance of various vehicles. Despite facing hostility from jealous peers and the skepticism of her companion’s friends, she remained unfailingly kind, often using her first-class magic to subtly fix domestic disasters or protect her companion from physical harm. These early actions established her role as a celestial guardian who prioritized the happiness and well-being of her contractor above the laws of Heaven. Belldandy’s peaceful existence was disrupted by the arrival of her elder sister, Urd, who descended to Earth with the intent of accelerating the romantic progression between the goddess and her contractor. During this period, Belldandy was forced to act as a moderating force, frequently deploying her magic to neutralise the chaotic love potions and disruptive spells cast by her mischievous sibling. She participated in a high-stakes scooter race against a campus rival, where she demonstrated her supernatural connection to mechanics by coaxing an old engine to perform at impossible speeds. As the domestic tension escalated, she also faced the challenge of a System Crash in the celestial computer, Yggdrasil, which threatened to erase her contract and force her return to the heavens. Throughout these trials, she maintained her characteristic composure, using her powers to repair the mystical reality of their home while simultaneously shielding her companion from the more dangerous aspects of her divine heritage. These events solidified her commitment to her earthly life, proving that she was willing to defy the mandates of the heavens to preserve the bond she had formed.
