Biography
Origin
Arisia Rrab was a female inhabitant of the planet Graxos IV that was located in Sector 2815. (Tales of the Green Lantern Corps v1 #1)
After her father meets his demise whilst serving the Corps, her uncle Blish was next chosen to serve as the Lantern of her sector. Blish too eventually gave his life serving the Corps and Arisia was selected as his replacement on her next birthday. This made her yet another member of her family line that came to serve as a Green Lantern. (Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps v1 #3)
Shortly after becoming a Green Lantern, she received a summons from the Guardians of the Universe that called the entire Corps for an assembly on Oa. Whilst travelling through space, she decided to follow her fellow Green Lantern from neighbouring Sector 2814 with this being Hal Jordan. This was because she was new to her role and she had hoped to learn from him as they made their way to the Corps headquarters. (Tales of the Green Lantern Corps v1 #1)
Green Lantern
She was one of the Green Lanterns, along with Katma Tui, Salakk, Ch'p and Kilowog, who relocated to Earth after the battle against the Anti-Monitor. (Green Lantern Corps v1 #201)
Arisia had a huge crush on Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of Sector 2814. After she was stationed on Earth with Jordan, she subconsciously used her power ring to age herself so that she and Jordan could be together. (Green Lantern Corps v1 #206)
In reality, her body had shut down in order to recover with her buried in her grave until the Manhunters arrived under the direction of their Grandmaster Hank Henshaw. He had dug out and taken to their new homeworld of Biot where she was used as a living power battery for giant Manhunter robots. (Green Lantern v4 #13)
The Sinestro Corps War raged on Earth, and while Arisia, the GLC and an army of superheroes battled the Corps the Anti-Monitor prepared to unleash an anti-matter wave to destroy Earth. With Earth’s destruction, the entire 52 would fall, and he would once again rule all that was. The GLC ruptured the heart of Anti-Monitor’s Warworld, the Sinestro Corps central power battery, and created a shield around Warworld and the Monitor. The ensuing blast nearly destroyed the Anti-Monitor, and he was finished off by Superman-Prime, who betrayed him for having destroyed his home, Earth-Prime. GL Hal Jordan defeated Sinestro in personal combat, and the Sinestro Corps, lacking any leadership, fled Earth. The heroes rejoiced and began rebuilding the damage the Sinestro Corps did. (Green Lantern v4 #25)
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Arisia Rrab, a native of the planet Graxos IV, was first introduced as a youthful member of the Green Lantern Corps, distinctly shorter and slighter in build than her fellow Lanterns. She had light golden skin, a feature common to her Graxan heritage, and was visually marked by her long, flowing blonde hair, typically worn loose and falling past her shoulders. Her facial features were soft and rounded, conveying both her adolescent age and emotional openness. Arisia's eyes were large and expressive, often conveying wonder, excitement, or earnest determination. She wore the standard Green Lantern Corps uniform, which, at the time, consisted of a green tunic with black limbs and white gloves. On her, however, the uniform seemed slightly oversized—another visual reminder of her youth and inexperience. Her bearing was not yet military or hardened, but rather nervous and deferential, indicating that while she bore the symbol of the Corps, she had much to learn. She was noted to have had cute features. (Tales of the Green Lantern Corps v1 #1) Whilst living on Earth, she came to assume a secret identity where she went by the name of Cindy Simpson. (Green Lantern Corps v1 #201)
Arisia Rrab was portrayed as eager, wide-eyed, and idealistic. Though she held the same title and power ring as her veteran comrades, she was notably younger and emotionally unseasoned, often expressing awe at the company she kept. She deferred to the senior members of the Corps with a sense of reverence, clearly viewing them—especially Hal Jordan and Kilowog—as legendary figures. Her tone when addressing them reflected a mixture of respect, admiration, and nervousness, suggesting that she was still adjusting to the gravity of her responsibilities. (Tales of the Green Lantern Corps v1 #1)
Despite her nerves, Arisia did not shy away from duty. She showed a willingness to follow orders and placed great trust in the leadership of the Corps, reflecting both her loyalty and her hope to prove herself. Her conversations with the other Lanterns showed her to be kind, thoughtful, and slightly insecure, questioning whether she truly belonged among the ranks of such renowned warriors. However, these doubts were not voiced with despair but rather with an earnest desire to grow and rise to the expectations placed upon her. (Tales of the Green Lantern Corps v1 #2)
She demonstrated a strong sense of community, preferring to act alongside others rather than alone. Her participation in the defense against the threat of Krona and Nekron revealed that while she was not yet a formidable combatant, she could stand firm under pressure, using her willpower and ring with genuine courage, even in the face of cosmic terror. That bravery, tempered by youthful humility, became one of her defining traits. (Tales of the Green Lantern Corps v1 #3)
Perhaps most telling of her personality was her deep empathy and emotional sensitivity. She expressed visible distress at the deaths of fellow Corps members and was among those most affected by the sheer scale of loss during the campaign. This suggested that her strength came not from brashness or rage, but from a genuine desire to protect life and uphold justice, even when overwhelmed. (Tales of the Green Lantern Corps v1 #3)
Powers and abilities
As a Graxonite, her body shut down in times of great stress or damage so that it could heal and evolve to the next stage of life. (Green Lantern v4 #13)
As a Green Lantern, Arisia was capable of projecting energy-based constructions, flight, and utilizing various other abilities through her power ring which are only limited by her imagination and willpower.
