History
Anor Londo was created by Gwyn, ruler of the gods, to consolidate his power after ushering in the Age of Fire. When the dragons of the Age of Ancients were defeated, the winners of the war, calling themselves gods, founded and constructed a prosperous land named Lordran. Anor Londo came to be Lordran's capital city where it became legendary with the passage of time as an unreachable city of the gods. It was built by Lord Gwyn at the dawn of the Age of Fire, and served as his throne, surrounded by other gods, his brave knights, and his army of Silver Knights. In the Age of Fire, when the First Flame started to exhibit signs that it was fading, and after unsuccessful attempts to prevent this, Lord Gwyn descended to the Kiln with the already charred Black Knights in a dramatic last attempt. He sacrificed himself, offering his own soul in order to extend the Age of Fire, and he succeeded, thus prolonging the Flame. Sadly, for the gods, this selfless sacrifice originated other problems: the Undead Curse was created when Gwyn linked the fire, breaking the natural course of the world and soon, most of Anor Londo's inhabitants abandoned the city and Lordran. Heroes and pilgrims from many eras have tried to reach the city. To reach Anor Londo, they must surpass Sen's Fortress and defeat the gatekeeper, the Iron Golem. Countless have perished in their attempts, but many have also been successful and have reached the city of the gods, such as: the Darkmoon Knightess, Black Iron Tarkus and Solaire of Astora. It's also important to note that prevalining in the Battle of Stoicism grants access to Anor Londo.
Many centuries later, upon the fading of the First Flame, he was forced to leave the city along with half of his Silver Knight army to rekindle the flame. In time, the only remaining deity in Anor Londo was Gwyndolin, who presided over the Darkmoon covenant. He created the illusion of sunlight, as well as Princess Gwynevere, to compel the Chosen Undead to defeat Gwyn and rekindle the First Flame yet again. To hide this shameful abandonment, Gwyndolin, the last remaining deity, wove a massive illusion that bathed our city in a false, eternal sun, masking the fact that the real sky had turned to pitch. For centuries, it existed in a state of stagnant mourning, until the arrival of the Pontiff Sulyvahn from the Painted World, who claimed the city for his own dark ambitions. Under his tyranny, the once-sacred cathedral was defiled as he imprisoned the remaining gods and allowed the Devourer of Gods, Aldrich, to consume the very royalty we had once worshipped. By the time the world neared its final end, our city was no longer a sanctuary of light but a frozen, ruined shell, half-buried in the snows of Irithyll.
The Chosen Undead is tasked by the primordial serpent Kingseeker Frampt to retrieve the Lordvessel from Gwynevere, Princess of Sunlight. In the now-deserted Anor Londo, only one god remains in the city: Dark Sun Gwyndolin, last-born of Gwyn. In order to deceive the Chosen Undead, he creates an illusion of his sister and the sun, making Anor Londo appear bathed in sunlight and glory, as it once may have been. But should this veil of deception be liften, one shall learn the truth, that Anor Londo is wrapped in darkness. The real Gwynevere has long since left the city with her future husband, Flann, God of Flame. The Darkmoon Blades now seek vengeance for crimes against the gods and operate under Gwyndolin's command. Also, as her name suggests, Darkmoon Knightess, the Firekeeper of Anor Londo, is a member of this covenant. Under Anor Londo's cathedral, only accessible by using a mechanical turning staircase, is a circle of statues made in rememberance of Gwyn and the knights who descended with him to the Kiln. Behind his statue, there is a secret, honorary tomb made for him, from where Dark Sun Gwyndolin governs the Blades of the Darkmoon Blades.
Overview
In appearance, Anor Londo was a monumental bastion of Gothic architecture that glittered with a perpetual, golden sunset, serving as the exalted seat of the Old Royalty. It resided atop a massive, artificial plateau that towered high above the surrounding kingdom of Lordran, physically isolated from the lower realms by sheer, impassable cliffs. The city’s development was unparalleled in its scale, featuring soaring buttresses, dizzying spires, and vast, marble-floored cathedrals designed for beings far larger than ourselves. Its landscape was defined by its verticality; we navigated a labyrinth of grand elevators, rotating bridges, and narrow roof-top walkways that connected the Great Hall to the sprawling archive wings. As a city of the Gods, it was a sterile, pristine sanctuary of light and stone, seemingly untouched by the decay of the world below, though its empty halls and silent statues eventually betrayed the fact that its inhabitants had long since fled.

- Gwyn : Lord of Sunlight was one of the primordial humanoid creatures that appeared underground after the First Flame appeared, bringing life, death and 'disparity'. He was one of those who found the four Lord Souls, souls of immense power, together with Gravelord Nito, the Witch of Izalith and much later the Furtive Pygmy. Thanks to the immense power of his soul, the greatest even among all the other Lords, Gwyn established an underground civilization, becoming its king and forming a developed army of Silver Knights at his orders. At some point Gwyn also had a relationship with an unknown woman and from their union were born his firstborn son and his eldest daughter, Gwynevere.
