Biography

AnchoR.

AnchoR (Japanese: アンクル, Hepburn: Ankuru) was a mechanical automata built in the form of a female human over a thousand years ago by the inventor Y when he helped transform Earth into the Clockwork Planet. She was made as one of the Initial Y-Series alongside her sister units with her being built for an unknown purpose.

AnchoR was originally kept in the underground of Kyoto's Core Tower, but The Army moved her at some point. AnchoR was stationed to a warehouse in grid Mie. She easily erased 3 spies including Vermouth that had infiltrated the warehouse. After she was saved from being controlled by the mask, she seemed to lose her memories as she gained consciousness after being fixed by Marie. Naoto became recognized as her master after he answered her question: "What am I?". Naoto simply answered that she was a cute girl (a loli) which worked as it was a test to see if Naoto was worthy of wielding her immense power.

AnchoR was first introduced during the battle against a massive automaton released to destroy Kyoto. Naoto Miura and RyuZU encountered her when she was deployed by the military as an ultimate weapon, designed to eradicate threats with overwhelming force. When she was activated, AnchoR unleashed devastating firepower capable of leveling entire structures, demonstrating her classification as a Military Gear. However, her actions were abruptly halted when Naoto intervened, appealing to her mechanical core and preventing her from carrying out indiscriminate destruction. This encounter established her as a dangerous but misunderstood machine whose destructive programming clashed with her potential for independent thought. After being saved from military control, AnchoR began traveling with them, showing deference to Naoto, whom she quickly bonded with as her master. During this stage, she acted both as protector and heavy weapon, engaging enemy automatons with precision and unleashing her incredible arsenal of missiles and artillery. Despite her overwhelming power, she displayed restraint when ordered, following Naoto’s commands faithfully and demonstrating an unexpected gentleness toward him and his companions, in stark contrast to the destruction she had been built to cause. AnchoR participated actively in the defense of Kyoto alongside Naoto’s group. She fought against multiple military automatons, strategically deploying her long-range weaponry while also showing agility in close-range combat. Her activities highlighted her dual nature: the capacity to annihilate entire squadrons with ease, and the capacity to protect and follow orders with near childlike trust in Naoto. This balance between weapon and companion deepened her integration into the group, further establishing her as both a critical ally and a source of unease due to the destructive potential locked within her frame.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, AnchoR was a young girl-shaped automaton with striking features that emphasized both her mechanical origin and her childlike design. She had long pale hair, often styled with a bow, and mechanical eyes that gave off a distinct glow when she was active. Her outfit resembled a military-inspired dress, accented with metallic details, and she often carried oversized weaponry that seemed at odds with her small, delicate frame.

Originally AnchoR suffered from self-loathing, stemming from her designated mission of One That Destroys. Following her defeat at the hands of her "parents" and eldest sister, she was taught that breaking things apart was okay if they were broken, as it made it easier to reassemble them into something useful. Following such, she becomes a lot more confident, even extending a hand to her wayward sister TemP and remarking on the similarities of their paths.

AnchoR’s personality contrasted sharply with her destructive purpose. She displayed a quiet, reserved demeanor, often speaking in a polite and subdued manner. She showed deep attachment to Naoto, following his orders faithfully and seeking his approval in her actions. While she could appear distant or mechanical in her obedience, she also revealed moments of tenderness and concern, particularly toward Naoto and RyuZU, suggesting that her programming allowed for loyalty and protective instincts that went beyond her intended design. This loyalty bordered on devotion, highlighting both her trust and her desire to be accepted.

Powers and abilities

As a Military Gear automaton, AnchoR’s physiology granted her immense destructive power and resilience. She was equipped with long-range missile systems, energy-based weaponry, and internal mechanisms capable of producing sustained bombardment over large areas. Her body, though appearing delicate, was reinforced with clockwork systems that allowed her to endure immense stress during combat. In addition to her firepower, she demonstrated agility and precision, moving with speed and accuracy that belied her childlike frame. Unlike ordinary automatons, she carried the ability to function as a strategic weapon of mass destruction, yet her mechanical physiology also allowed her to function as a loyal companion under Naoto’s command.

She has a peculiar function called Perpetual Gear, which allowed her to continue forever, and has ability called Power Reserver that grant an energy from an automatic wind clockwork without any loss. The energy gained will be converted into heat and stored inside her body. She can use the energy for dimensional manipulation, allowing her to tear through Spacetime in order to attack opponents.
