Biography

Pre-Crisis

Quisp was an imp-like being native to the Fifth Dimension. He has a brother named Quirk (possibly Qwrk), who is a criminal. Both tried to pass themselves off as Water Sprites, and Qwsp bedeviled Aquaman early in the hero's career with his tricksterish ways.

Quisp assisted Aquaman in defending Queen Mera from an extradimensional usurper named Leron, who had launched a violent coup to seize control of her homeland. When Leron and his rebel forces pursued Mera into the Earth dimension and initiated an underwater assault, Aquaman temporarily retreated to locate Qwsp, requesting that the magical ally raise a specialized army from his home realm to repel the invaders. Quisp agreed to provide full tactical assistance, but Leron had secretly used a hard-water shell camouflage to mimic a massive fish and spy on the conversation. Immediately after Aquaman left, Leron ambushed Quisp, striking him with a surprise assault that left him entirely unconscious on the ocean floor and temporarily removing him from the conflict. While Quisp was incapacitated, Leron successfully captured Aquaman, Aqualad, and Mera within a polymer transport bag and dragged them back to Dimension Aqua as political prisoners. Quisp eventually regained consciousness and managed to trace the group across dimensions, navigating into the hostile realm just as Aquaman successfully used local lead impurities from oil reserves to neutralize the hard-water capabilities of Leron's forces and shatter their defenses. Qwsp materialized directly at the portal site to congratulate his allies on the victory and attempted to personally bid farewell to Queen Mera as she reclaimed her royal throne, arriving just as the portal began to close and ensuring that Aquaman and Aqualad could safely navigate back to the Earthly oceans before the dimensional gateway sealed shut. Post-Crisis

Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events. Qwsp

Qwsp disappeared for many years, but recently returned to see how Aquaman was doing. He also learned of the Fifth-Dimensional princes Yz (also known as the Thunderbolt) and Lkz, who were trapped on the Earth plane. Qwsp soon learned that Aquaman had changed much, becoming darker. The imp decided that he would change as well, and changed from a mischevious trickster to a malevolent threat.

Qwsp manipulated events to free Yz and Lkz, who began fighting one another- this caused mass chaos and destruction on Earth, and threw the Fifth Dimension into turmoil. He also threatened J.J. Thunder, the Thunderbolt's new master, and killed the hero Wildcat. (Fortunately, Wildcat had gained a mystical gift of nine lives back in 1945, and recovered.) However, Qwsp's part in the crisis was found out by the authorities of his native dimension. After Yz and Lkz were merged into the balanced Ylzkz, the new Thunderbolt, Qwsp was captured, and sentenced to "1 million infinities in an 8-dimensional maze."

Overview

Personality and attributes

Powers and abilities

Qwsp is a being from the 5th dimension and as such he can use his mastery of 5th dimensional science to shape reality in the Earth dimension. Qwsp can manipulate time and matter with a thought and can impose new laws of physics just by thinking.

As Quisp, he was in the guise of a member of a magical extra-dimensional water sprite species, originating from a realm known as the secret sea. On a basic feats level, this specialized extra-dimensional physiology granted Quisp complete immunity to the extreme pressures of the deep ocean, allowing him to swim, breathe, and converse underwater as effortlessly as human beings do on land. He possessed exceptional hydrokinetic capabilities, often referred to as water magic, which allowed him to manipulate the physical properties of sea water with a thought. Quisp could effortlessly project massive waterspouts capable of launching blue whales into the sky, generate towering tidal waves hundreds of feet high, and lift solid structures out of flooded environments. He could utilize these self-generated currents to travel through the oceans at velocities that vastly exceeded the natural swimming speed of Atlanteans like Aquaman. Quisp held no biological vulnerabilities to conventional human drowning, pressure changes, or terrestrial sicknesses, and he could alter his localized anchoring to cross between Earth and alternate water dimensions at will.
